Artist Statement

As a ceramic artist, my journey with clay evolved organically from a background in illustration, spanning many years. My transition to this tactile medium has allowed me to delve into the exploration of modern, simplistic forms, drawing inspiration from the world around me.

Nature, people, and architecture serve as profound wellsprings for my creativity. In my artistic process, I begin with sketches, capturing interesting silhouettes that become the foundation for my sculptural endeavors. Through clay, I strive to distill the essence of the everyday, presenting a refined interpretation of the myriad elements we encounter in our daily lives.

My work embodies a modernist perspective on objects that captivate my interest. Through handbuilding techniques such as pinching, coiling, I coerce the clay to manifest my envisioned forms. Embracing irregularity is integral to my practice, infusing each piece with a distinctive character that celebrates the beauty of imperfection.
